Hong Kong Harry gets a Baroque makeover
Classic Black Stallion mold, remade into Serr Maariner, a famous Grand Prix Dressage Egyptian Arabian stallion for the MHB custom "slow poke challenge"

Here are some pictures of an adorable Arab/Quarter Horse mare named Glory, whom I was commissioned to do a model portrait of. The owner did not have any full or side views of the mare, and she no longer owned her, so this is pretty much all I had to go on, besides the owner's verbal descriptions, which were very helptul. The last pic shows two likely candidates for starter bodies for the cm versus the real horse's head. As you can see, even though the owner was very fond of the Proud Arabian Mare mold, the Family mare's head shape clearly matched the real horse's head shape much more closely.
The owner wanted the model's head to be turned slightly left, and the Family mare's mane had to be removed and replaced so that it fell on the left side. Her neck had to be thinned and bend according to the way her head was turned. Her head was also somewhat re-shaped, as Glory was half quarter horse and did not have a pronounced dish face or jibbah to her head. She is a black flea-bit grey, and there are many tiny flea - bits visible on her coat. Mature mare "parts" were added, because the owner was able to inform me that she had had a few foals. Her tail was re-made to more closely match the real Glory's. I was also able to add a scar in the shape of a "G" on her left shoulder, per the owner's request. It was an identifying mark, which she had for many years, and so was very important to her in making this model more closely resemble the real Glory. Overall, the emotional impact of this portrait was very successful, and her owner seemed quite happy.

This is a Misty's Twilight model that I have removed the seams from, smoothed out all over, carved the ears and hooves, slightly repositioned the right hind leg for more realistic "parallelism" of the stride, and resculpted the missing parts of the left hind. which in the mold, is partially underground. Because I added the rest of the hoof, and co-incidingly lowered the right leg, the model remains standing straight. I am just about to paint her a dark red chestnut tobiano with lots of mapping.
Proud Arabian Stallion to dressage horse in trotting leg yield left.
After some corrections to his neck...thought it looked a bit too long so I shortened it and lessened the bend some.

New for 2009!
I'm currently working on casting this traditional scale jockey. He is designed to ride all 3 running Breyer race horse molds, with tack on. You can purchase customized race tack from the tack section of this website! He should be great for performance live showing!
You can either order one unpainted for $35.00
(has had partial prep done but will require more preparation and primer coating prior to painting)

Or you can have me prep and paint him in your customized race colors, to suit your own set up! You can order him to be painted to resemble famous real-life Jockeys in the barn colors of the famous race horse of your choice; Such as Edgar Prado on Barbaro winning the Kentucky Derby! You can also order matching race tack with the correct color number saddle cloth for that particular race! Please e-mail me with any questions! I'm happy to discuss your ideas!

He is depicted in full professional racing attire! He's wearing a few layers of goggles, a regulation helmet, his stable's racing silks, breeches and boots.

His hands are slightly opened to allow for the placement of reins and a bat. (Whip not included with unpainted resins.)

He is a solid cast polyurethane resin (off-white color) so he is non-poseable. Artists are welcome to customize him, though. (Permission for resculpting and custom painting is granted!)

An Original Sculpture: A Dutch Warmblood Stallion "PDS Son Of Samber" in passage.

I started from aluminum foil, tape and steel craft wire. Then I added bits of Gapoxio, a 1hr. Epoxy putty. I gradually formed all the muscles including the legs, using Gapoxio. Once the basic muscling is down, then I start adding details, like the head. Lots more details later, and he's off the post and standing on his own. Here he is, painted in acrylics to a black overo pinto. I decided on 2 smaller bases rather than the 1 big one.

This sculpture won 1st place at the 2007 New Jersey State Fair, Art in Sussex County show!

I will be having PDS Son of Samber cast in resin later this year (2009). They will be solid polyurethane with wire supports in the tail and legs.

Unpainted resins will sell for $150.00 ea

Painted ones around $200.00-$300.00

(Sam resin prices are estimated at this time and will include free shipping)

To reserve yours, please send me an e-mail with your name and shipping address as well as your e-mail address. You will be notified by e-mail as soon as it is available. As soon as I receive your cleared payment, I will ship them out. 1st come, 1st served basis!

As of 4/27/2009 - I am starting some final "tweeking" to Sam's face (nostrils), shoulder, hip and left hind leg. After those changes are done, I'll post final unpainted pics, and start on mold making. Progress updates to follow!
