What is Hidden Imagery?
Hidden Imagery paintings are paintings that have a certain image or object hidden within the overall image. The hidden image should not be immediately visible, but the viewer should have to look at the painting for a while before the "hidden" image pops out at them and it should ideally give the viewer a feeling of surprise or of wanting to say "Ah-ha!"
Below are some of the images I have hidden in my painting:

| Hidden within Zig Zag Au Natural are 3 images of Zig Zag the tiger skunk. The main image is a full body frontal view which is located in the exact center of the painting. It is a real image, in that she is actually standing in the middle of the stand of white birch trees. Then to the left is a 3/4 portrait of her head, facing right. The entire image is composed of the black tree bark markings on the white birch trees, branches, and a rock. There is a second 3/4 view portrait of her facing left, and is located in the upper right of the painting. It is also composed of tree bark markings and branches. There are several other tree bark markings that look like a sort of incomplete picture of her face, but these are meant to confuse and draw the eye away from the hidden image and even out the overall tone of the painting. | |
